Many pro sports were shut throughout the pandemic, leaving die-hard Boston and New England fans in the lurch. But lucky for baseball fans, baseball season is well underway, and you can still buy tickets to see the Sox at Fenway Park. Here’s what you need to know about attending and lowering your risk of contracting Covid.
Currently, Fenway Park is open for business, and for fans who don’t fall under the high-risk category, Fenway remains compliant with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ and City of Boston’s guidelines. This means, as of August 27th, masks are required in all indoor spaces, including team stores, restrooms, elevators and indoor clubs and restaurants.
There are exemptions for those actively eating and drinking, but not for vaccination status. Fenway also does recommend anyone who is considered to be “high-risk” under CDC guidelines to refrain from coming to the ballpark altogether.
Keep in mind that while traveling to the ballpark, masks are still mandatory on all public and private transportation systems, including rideshares, taxis, MBTA and commuter rail, and bags are restricted with exceptions limited to medical devices and diaper bags.
Inside the park, cashless payment options are available, and Fenway has promised “enhanced” cleaning of restrooms and other “high touch areas” by the Fenway Park Clean Team. Hand sanitizer and wipes are available at entry gates and throughout the stadium, and anyone exhibiting potential Covid-19 symptoms can contact the nearest Fenway staff for medical evacuation.
