Last Monday, White House Covid-19 coordinator Jeff Zients announced the U.S. will ease foreign travel restrictions in early November. This means international visitors who have proof of vaccination and a negative Covid-19 test will be allowed in the country.

Until now, countries have faced a variety of restrictions, which many have complained have been confusing and hard to follow. The rules also barred non-American citizens from entering entirely who had been in Europe and most of Asia the previous 14 days before entering. All foreign travelers must show proof of vaccination and proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within three days of the flight before boarding the plane.

The restrictions have been in place for 18 months, meaning family and loved ones will have long-awaited reunions.

The rules take effect as the White House also announces testing rules will be tightened for unvaccinated American citizens, who must be tested within a day before returning to the states, as well as after they arrive back.
